The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent. Missile Defenses Activated Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space. In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East. Iran's Declared Retaliation Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday. That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government. Wider Impacts In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage. The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles". "Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added. The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities. The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
