The Manager's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss described Celtic as "a really big football club" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties took charge of Portman Road in recent years and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had such conversations," the English capital native ex- Irish young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a unique position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a really important phase of the campaign. Anything external hasn't reached my radar."

Context and Agreement Details

It has been suggested that McKenna would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and declare what they were, but of course it's a really big sports organization."

The coach signed a fresh multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his reported buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I approach this job like I'll be Town's coach indefinitely. I know that's not always going to be the case, but I will consistently give maximum effort as long as I remain in position."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker represented Celtic on loan from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh striker is inclined to complete the ongoing World Cup qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Celtic job.

Wales are currently third in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and second-placed Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and their rivals in next month would secure their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually guaranteed of making those, due to a productive Nations League campaign, even if they fail to finish as Group J second place.

Given his current stance, Bellamy, whose agreement concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until after the qualifying matches at the minimum.
