Spurs Manager Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not True Real Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "they cannot be true Tottenham fans" by manager Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th top-flight home loss of the year.

But the primary talking point was the visitors' second score when Vicario gave away the ball well beyond his box.

He came out to handle a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.

But, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italy international spun and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King passed the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds afterwards when the ball came to Vicario once more, a number of Tottenham fans jeered him.

The team were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

One of those jeering episodes truly angered Frank.

"I heard some of our fans apparently jeered the incident and jeered after, which, in my view is completely unacceptable," the Dane commented about the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.

"[They] can't be real Spurs supporters that act that way. Alright booing after the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are with each other going forward."

Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second period showing.

Former Premier League keeper Joe Hart stated that the second score was "totally avoidable".

"I do appreciate the supporters' disappointment," Hart added. "I am aware the part the keeper is performing. He's a great team player, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the winning score."

'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Game

Italian national team Vicario is in his third campaign with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old said after the game that he had to take the feedback.

"The second score was a error of my own, I accept accountability for that," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a poor manner. It was an even bigger challenge to overcome."

He stated being booed "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to stay more composed, to concentrate on ourselves. We are missing in calmness and poise to overturn results. This match is a bad defeat and it's hard to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Goal Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an easy score for Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the next most distant top division goal of the season – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too occurred on the same day.

Wilson stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty net to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between Vicario exiting of his box and the midfielder striking – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the box for a long time," Wilson remarked.

"It amazed me none of the defenders returned to the goal line. When not one of them defended the net, my interest sparked a bit.

"Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a little additional time. After that it was solely about trying to achieve the correct connection and place it towards goal. I had a positive sense, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Poor Run, All Seems to Work Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

While the keeper's error led coverage, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home struggles.

The match was their 10th home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint team statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's old side Brentford and champions the Reds to play prior to the end of the season.

Just a single of those victories have occurred after the manager took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to work against you as well – the first was a redirected shot, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result puts us in a place where we have lost an additional game. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was much better and hopefully something we can use to develop."

Spurs have been defeated in four consecutive at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

And they are recording nine point five shots and three point two shots on target per game in the division – their poorest rates on file in a single season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the stick," Murphy said. "He has taken a high profile job at a huge team with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.

"The performances at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
