The former Liverpool manager says rejoining to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown in 30 years, has since taken on roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, though countless followers who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the idea that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I stated I won't manage a different club on English soil. Therefore in case it's my former club...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means the choice could be mine later on, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on the specific conditions would have to unfold to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; I don’t miss going to press conferences multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the players having a nice chat, I appreciate that. Success was frequent meaning regularly great spirits in the building. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, crediting him due to the changes that took the title last campaign. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences at the club. The forward was killed in a car crash with his brother recently.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the team environment without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. A devastating blow for all the boys too. Not a single person would cite it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that emotionally is difficult. Impossible.”
