A Major Acquisition for United The forward, with six months left on her deal, is known as a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. She has scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing will be seen as a major signing for the Women’s Super League side. Departure from Munich was expected since she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the German club’s fans after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently. It was reported in late December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading strikers. Per reports, all the paperwork for the transfer are now finalised. Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen the Forward Line The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a major boost to United’s attacking options. Schüller has been highly consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight. For seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals. She claimed the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals. Gathering Momentum at Carrington The acquisition of Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when United appear to be gathering momentum. Recent on-pitch successes feature qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals. Off the pitch, the winter break has brought further business: The acquisition of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal. The contract extension for Japan playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since joining in 2023. Regarding the midfielder's extension, a club official stated: “She has become a critical part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and skill allows her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.” The new defender, having joined from a club in the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
